Community and Culture

I heard Karnival is for artists, what does that mean?

Karnival celebrates every kind of creative expression, music, painting, flow arts, crafts, comedy, performance, fashion, and anything that brings joy. We highlight creators at all levels, from first time painters to national touring performers. We want to inspire the next wave of artists while also celebrating the amazing talent already in our community. We applaud the artists and flow performers who share the stage with our musical acts and encourage everyone to shine together.

Who organizes Karnival?

Karnival was founded by a group of passionate festival community members from Pennsylvania. Many were part of the Grounded Roots Event Safety team who spent years protecting and uplifting the music scene. Today, the Karnival family continues to grow each year as new partners and creatives join who share that same passion for building a welcoming and inspired community.

How can I get involved?

There are many ways to join the Karnival family. You can volunteer, apply to perform, submit art or flow applications, teach a workshop, help build installations, or simply show up ready to appreciate and participate. If you feel called to be part of the kreative energy, you already belong here.

Can I flow, paint, or create even if I am not accepted as an official artist?

Yes, absolutely. We love seeing spontaneous art happen everywhere, it is part of the atmosphere. Please create safely, be mindful of walkways and performers, and share the space with kindness. At Karnival, art is not the side show, art is the whole show.

 General Rules

To keep everyone safe and respected
• No illegal substances
• No firearms or weapons
• No glass bottles
• No underage alcohol possession or consumption
• No fireworks
• No personal campfires
• No violent or harmful behavior
• No nitrous oxide
• No littering
• Be kind, be respectful, be part of the magic
Violations of these rules may lead to removal from the event.

🚑 Safety and Wellness

• Security and staff are present to support a safe and fun environment
• Medical personnel and first aid are available, ask any staff member if you need help
• Take care of yourself by staying hydrated, eating regularly, dressing for weather, and respecting your limits
• Protect your belongings, bring only what you need
• Be prepared for camping with proper gear and lighting
• Use common sense and take care of each other

🍻 Alcohol

Some events may be BYOB. Underage drinking is not allowed and valid ID must be shown if requested. Failure to comply may result in removal from the event.

🏕️ Camping and Accommodations

Camping is typically included with general admission unless stated otherwise. Venue amenities vary by event but often include a mix of permanent restrooms, portable toilets, hand wash stations, and sometimes showers. Quiet camping areas are marked on site. Car camping and RV access may be available depending on the venue and passes purchased. Respect quiet hours and leave no trace.

🐾 Pets

Pets may be allowed at some venues if properly supervised and leashed at all times. You must clean up after your pet and ensure they are comfortable in large crowds. If unsure, please allow your furry friend to relax at home.

🔁 Re Entry

Re entry is usually allowed with a valid wristband.

🧺 Vendors and Activities

Food, drinks, craft vendors, and workshops are common at Karnival gatherings. Cell service can vary so it is smart to bring a little cash if possible.

🧹 Lost and Found

Lost items can be checked for or returned at the front gate or information booth.

📱 Connectivity

Cell service can be spotty depending on the venue. Plan ahead, download maps or screenshots, and establish meet up points with friends before exploring.

🎤 Entertainment and Scheduling

Lineups and schedules are subject to change. You will receive updated information at the event or through our website and social channels.

Karnival takes place rain or shine. Be prepared for the elements and embrace the adventure.
